The CIMA (Centre for Applied Medical Research) comprises multi-disciplinary teams of professionals conducting translational research of excellence. They work in cooperation with the Clínica Universidad de Navarra (University Clinic of Navarra) and with the other faculties and centres on the biomedical campus of the Universidad de Navarra and with IdISNA (Navarra Medical Research Institute).
Their research work is directed at finding new disease mechanisms and discovering potential therapeutic targets, identifying and validating new diagnostic biomarkers and developing therapies for those diseases that pose significant medical challenges.
The CIMA is committed to cutting-edge biomedical research in a context of open innovation, establishing collaboration agreements with other universities, technology centres, companies and national and international foundations. The CIMA is a member of the ADitech technology corporation.
WHY THE CIMA IS A LEADER IN MEDICAL RESEARCH
- It has innovative vertical programmes: hepatology, solid tumours and biomarkers, haemato-oncology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular diseases.
- It works on transversal programmes related to immunology and Immunotherapy, gene therapy and regulation of gene expression, cell therapy, and molecular therapies.
- It has a Bioinformatics Service that provides complete support in the development of any experiment in which DNA or RNA are studied on a mass scale, for humans and also other organisms.
- It offers a holistic service to laboratories for the acquisition and quantitative analysis of non-invasive imaging through advanced multi-dimensional image processing techniques.
- It uses immunophenotyping techniques that make it possible to determine the characteristics of particles or cells in suspension and that individually pass through the light emitted by lasers (cytometry)
- It manages the collection and use of human biological samples and associated data for biomedical research purposes (Biobank).
- It supports all the biomedical research projects undertaken at the Universidad de Navarra, CIMA and Clínica Universidad de Navarra and which require the use of experimental animals.
